CITY CENTER RESIDENTIAL HOLDS GROUNDBREAKING FOR $25 MILLION “1010 APARTMENTS” IN DOWNTOWN ALLENTOWN

City Center Residential held a groundbreaking today for “1010 Apartments,” its new $25 million residential community at 1010 Hamilton Street in downtown Allentown. During the ceremony, City Center President J.B. Reilly announced the launch of the “Downtown West” district, an up-and-coming neighborhood between 9th and 15th streets and Walnut and Turner streets, and a $1 million investment fund to spur redevelopment in that area.

1010 Apartments will be a 125-unit community, set to open in the summer of 2023. Designed by Bernardon, the 4-story building will include studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments along with five walk-up units on Hamilton Steet. The pet-friendly building will feature a resident lounge with a coffee bar and fireplace, a courtyard with a firepit and grills, a bocce court and cornhole, a dog park with outdoor seating, and adjacent parking in the new Maple Street Deck.

“Downtown Allentown has been established as premier place to live,” Reilly said. “The ongoing demand for housing downtown makes us bullish about the future of residential, and the retail to support it, from 9th Street west on Hamilton to 15th Street. We’re calling this key gateway to the city ‘Downtown West,’ and City Center’s next development push will be in this neighborhood.”

Reilly added that Allentown Mayor Matt Tuerk has made revitalizing the Downtown West district a strategic priority, and several public-private partnerships are already underway in the neighborhood to renovate facades and improve the streetscape. To date, City Center Residential has developed two properties on the 900 block of Hamilton Street, Cityplace and The NINES. Two future City Center Residential communities, The Gallery and Walnut View, and the new 1130-space Maple Street Parking Deck are also within Downtown West, bringing the total recent investment in the neighborhood to more than $145 million.

“We see Downtown West as an up-and-coming neighborhood that’s ripe for investment with many opportunities,” Reilly said. “We’re exploring a variety of programs to encourage small investors to buy into Downtown West, and today City Center is announcing a $1 million investment fund to stimulate momentum in this target area.”

The Downtown West Investment Fund
will offer interest-free loans of $25,000 to $50,000 per property for either acquisition or redevelopment. Additional components will be added to the fund as Reilly meets with potential investors.

1010 Apartments will feature open gourmet kitchens with stainless-steel Energy Star® appliances, soft-close drawers, quartz countertops, and ceramic subway-tile backsplashes. Each unit will have luxury vinyl-wood plank flooring, full-sized stackable washers and dryers, a walk-in closet, and a luxury bathroom.

1010 Apartments will provide 24/7 monitored surveillance and controlled access, community-wide Wi-Fi, and storage for bikes and personal items. The property will also offer onsite professional management, 24/7 emergency maintenance, contactless package and food delivery, and concierge services, including pet walking.

All City Center residents can participate in regular exclusive events, such as downtown happy hours, breakfast at the Downtown Allentown Market, and volunteer opportunities. Residents also receive Gold Card discounts and VIP privileges at downtown restaurants and stores. In addition, they receive a complimentary membership to the Allentown Art Museum and discounts on membership at LVHN Fitness, classes at The Baum School of Art, tickets at Miller Symphony Hall, and rooms at the Renaissance Allentown Hotel.
